Changes to the law governing associations

The transition period for non-profit associations in Liechtenstein expired on 30 June 2026. This is a good time to briefly check whether your association has already complied with all the new obligations.
Following the revision of the PGR with effect from 1 January 2025, new, far-reaching obligations apply to non-profit associations:
  • Obligation to register with the Commercial Register, including the articles of association, a list of board members and, where applicable, a declaration of non-profit status
  • Further obligations such as a domestic representative office, where applicable a board member in accordance with Article 180a of the PGR, and a list of members available within the country
  • Exemption from the registration requirement is possible – where there is a low risk of terrorist financing, e.g. if funds are raised and distributed exclusively within the EEA or in Switzerland.
⏳ Anyone who has missed the deadline should take the necessary steps immediately.
